Ibis's initial success was achieved by the founder and CEO, Jay McNally. As a pioneer in automated analysis of large-scale e-mail and electronic data collections, McNally is widely recognized as an industry expert in electronic discovery. In the early 90s, Jay, an expert in litigation support, artificial intelligence, and software development, pioneered faster, more efficient automated solutions for the emerging field of electronic discovery (The Ibis List of Firsts).

During the course of his career, Jay has managed the discovery process for hundreds of lawsuits and continues to regularly provide insight to clients involved in high profile cases that involve electronic discovery. Jay has published many articles in the legal and business press and delivers several CLE courses on best practices for the collection, analysis, and production of electronic evidence. He recently co-authored "Corporate Governance" with partners from Hughes Hubbard & Reed, LLP and Milberg Weiss Bershad & Schulman, LLP. This American Lawyer Media book is due out shortly.

McNally was personally sought out to work on the Andersen/Enron case in 2002, and Ibis’s key role in this case has been profiled in The New York Times. In fact, Ibis has been the chosen electronic data collection firm in more than half of the headline-grabbing corporate malfeasance actions of the past several years. Ibis’s nearly fifteen years of experience, spanning more than 1,600 matters, has positioned us in the forefront of the most complex and important legal disputes. Ibis’s solutions continue to shape the electronic discovery marketplace, influencing rules, regulations, and processes for the proper storage and production of electronic data.

Ibis is driven by innovation, and continuously seeks to provide the demanding marketplace with superior custom solutions for the needs of the legal and business community. Our initial business focus was the development of sophisticated data conversion services to help corporations respond to litigation or compliance events.

Ibis's thought leadership is evidenced by its participation as a founding member of The Electronic Discovery Reference Model Project. Ibis was selected as leader of this thirteen member group devoted to developing standards and practices for processing electronic data for discovery.

The ibis (pronounced i' – bis) is a bird of African origin that since ancient times has symbolized knowledge, justice, wisdom and truth. This symbolism, along with the well-known avian ability to pinpoint an object of prey in any surrounding, presents a perfect metaphor for the process of electronic discovery. Ibis has the knowledge, experience and process to precisely identify the most important piece of information from the most daunting environment imaginable - your data!
